On June 24, 2025, the Somaliland Journalists Association (SOLJA) participated in a formal handover ceremony held at the headquarters of the Civil Service Institute (CSI) in Hargeisa. The event marked the leadership transition between the outgoing Director, Mr. Omar Eid Qaloonbi, and the incoming Director, Mr. Mohamed Said Cadaad.

During this occasion, SOLJA took the opportunity to present a Certificate of Appreciation to the outgoing Director, Mr. Omar Eid, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to the development of journalism in Somaliland.

SOLJA formally recognized and thanked Mr. Omar Eid Qaloonbi for his outstanding leadership, valuable partnership, and remarkable efforts in advancing journalism in Somaliland.

During his tenure as Director of the Civil Service Institute, Mr. Omar Eid played a pivotal role in facilitating educational opportunities for journalists and establishing a lasting collaboration with SOLJA that empowered many in the media sector.
