Meeting Between SOLJA and CPJ Africa in Nairobi

The Chairman of the Somaliland Journalists Association (SOLJA), accompanied by the Association’s Director and Secretary, held an important meeting in Nairobi with Muthoki Mumo, the Africa Program Coordinator at the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).

The discussion focused on the general situation of the media in Somaliland and the challenges faced by journalists, including arrests and restrictions on freedom of expression. Both sides also explored ways to strengthen cooperation between SOLJA and CPJ in defending journalists’ rights and safeguarding press freedom.

It was agreed to expand and deepen collaboration between the two organizations, a step that will contribute significantly to the protection of journalists’ rights and the defense of free expression in Somaliland.

CPJ, through its Africa program, works to advocate for journalists facing arrests, intimidation, and violations of free speech. SOLJA’s leadership expressed special appreciation to Muthoki Mumo and CPJ for their continued support and solidarity with Somaliland’s media community.
